Raisers, reinvented

After a long, unexpected downtime, the Tampa Area Puppy Raisers of Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc., have reorganized as a active, committed group of volunteers. Before a dog can receive professional training to lead a visually-impaired handler, it must have a loving home in which to grow, mature, and learn MANY basic lessons -- some of which you would teach your pet dog, others of which are specific to the career of guiding.

  

Our first meeting was held on a hot, steamy afternoon -- not so uncommon here!  Many visitors, affiliated with Southeastern in one way or another, came with their dogs to share their stories with the newer raisers.

We were "up and running."
