Big, bad, scary thing
While we never take our trainees on escalators -- their professional trainers give them that skill -- it is advisable that we expose our pups to escalators just by having them sit nearby and observe. Shilo was not impressed by the JC Penney's escalator that did seem overly clackety.

Pleeeease can I play with them?
The baby gate, designed to provide a safe buffer between Shilo and her foster kittens, is no match for a pup with a yearning. One swift jab of the nose creates the "hopeful" opening on the side. With kittens who trust her, it works. The current group hasn't warmed up to her fully, so there was no rush over to investigate that big schnoz.
